Edithvale Beach is a 1.5 km long, straight section of sand located between Chelsea and Aspendale Beaches. The Nepean Highway and railway parallel the beach, with Edithvale railway station located 200 m east of the beach and Edithvale Life Saving Club. The club, which was founded in 1919, has a large club house on the beach; however parking is limited to the adjoining streets. On either side of the club are a few boat sheds, with beach-front houses backing most of the beach. The beach faces west-south-west and, like adjoining Bonbeach and Chelsea, has a 50 m wide, sandy beach fronted by usually three bars. The inner bar is usually attached to the beach, while deeper troughs separate the second and outer bars. The bars and currents are only active during strong winds and high waves.
